Community Literacy Award

Nominations are now closed. 

The official award ceremony will be held on International Literacy Day, Monday, September 8, 2008, in Halifax.

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development Community Literacy Award provides you with the opportunity to nominate a person who has gone above and beyond the call of duty as a volunteer and who is deserving of recognition for his/her dedication to community-based literacy.

Criteria for this award are as follows:

  • be a volunteer tutor or a network member
  • have been involved in community-based literacy for at least 3 years
  • have regular involvement in community-based literacy activities
  • be an advocate on behalf of learners/adult literacy
  • perform tasks in exemplary ways so that others acknowledge his/her skills and commitment

To nominate an exceptional volunteer for the Community Literacy Award, please download the nomination package listed below. This package will provide you with everything you need to make your nomination.

Nominations must be postmarked no later than Friday, May 16, 2008.
